Remote Docking Fixtures
Whether you're looking for added flexibility in your test configurations or need to extend the reach of your existing test systems, our remote docking fixtures provide the ideal solution. Here's how our fixtures can improve your testing process:
What Are Remote Docking Fixtures?
Remote docking fixtures are versatile, cable-based interface solutions that sit between your test system and DUT board/test socket. They offer added flexibility by allowing you to test your DUTs in various environments, such as on the bench, under a microscope, or within a specialized chamber.
Key Components:
Interface Board: Designed to mate directly with your existing test head and cable out to a remote DUT board, this board is responsible for transferring signals between the DUT and your tester.
Bundled Ribbon Cables: Available in various lengths, these bundled cables connect the Interface Board with the remote DUT board. Multiple cable types are available based on tester and performance requirements.
Remote DUT Board: This board can include the test socket or emulate the load board interface on your tester for mounting your existing boards that would otherwise dock directly to your tester.
Design Tailored to Your Needs
Our remote docking fixtures are customizable to meet your unique test requirements and applications. Whether you need a standard design or a custom-built solution, we have the expertise to deliver. Our fixtures are particularly well-suited for failure analysis labs as they play a critical role in fault localization when used with inspection tools.
Why Choose RTI's Remote Docking Fixtures?
- Test System Compatibility: Contact us to discuss your tester's interface and available options. We offer designs compatible with popular test systems like Kiethly, Credence D-10, Verigy, Advantest, Versatest, NextTest, and our own MultiTrace automated curve tracers. We can also develop fixtures for other platforms that utilize standardized docking interfaces.
- Flexible Cables and Connectors: Our cables come in varying lengths to match your needs and can be shielded or wrapped depending on the required electrical performance. Easy-to-remove mating connectors allow for simple maintenance and adaptability to different test systems.
LTX/Credence D-10 Remote Docking Interface
RTI's D10 Remote Docking Interface and DUT Board is designed to allow testing of devices using a Credence Diamond D10 ATE test system. This solution is configurable and upgradable from 96 to 768 channels, in increments of 96.
All power supplies, sense lines, and most DIBU signals can be accessed at the remote DUT board. The DUT Fixture is designed to fit on probe stations, LSM, EMMI and other diagnostic tools.
- RTI's high-speed coaxial ribbon cables mount directly on the bottom side of the pogo pins.
- All sixteen power supplies and most of the DIBU functions are also available at the DUT Fixture.
- All test channels maintain 50 ohm impedance throughout the system.
- RTI also supplies custom DUT cards and test sockets for the system.
About the Interface Board (D10-768):
- RTI's D10 is 10"x12". It is field upgradeable from 96 to 768 pins in increments of 96 pins by adding additional RTI standard D10 Pogo Blocks and cables.
- All Molex connectors required for up to 786-channel operation are pressed into the interface board in slots 0-9 for DUT A and DUT B and slot 9 for DUT C
- Users can contact each signal pin on the DUT A and DUT B connectors for slot 0-9 using optional Pogo Pin Access Blocks.
About the Remote Docking Interface:
- The D10 Remote Docking Interface measures 9.5" x 9.5" x 2.1" (not including height of alignment pins)
- All connections to the DUT board are made through the pogo pin blocks, including up to 768 test channels, Sixteen D10 power supplies and references, and connections to the DIBU channels.
- The DUT Fixture is designed to fit on probe stations, LSM, EMMI and other remote diagnostic tools.
- The DUT Fixture is field upgradeable from 96 to 768 pins in increments of 96 by adding additional pogo blocks and required cables.
- The Power Supply cables attach to a small PCB that interfaces to the power supply pogo block.
- The DIBU ribbon cables attach to a small PCB that interfaces to the DIBU pogo pin block.
About the Ribbon Cables
- The RTI 96 Channel High Speed Ribbon cables interface directly to the pogo pin blocks on the Interface Board and the Remote DUT Board.
- The cables are constructed using a controlled impedance gold plated Ridged-Flex PCB connecting six 50 ohm coaxial ribbon cables (16 channels each).
- A cover protects the ribbon cables and adds additional strain relief.
- The cables are designed to be approximately 34 inches from the edge of interface board to the edge of DUT fixture. The cables are the same length and fully interchangeable.
About the Pogo Pin Blocks
There are 2 Types of Pogo Pin Blocks used in the system. Both Pogo Pin blocks use the same high performance spring pin. The blocks are similar in appearance but are not interchangeable.
- D10 Interface Pogo Pin Blocks: D10-96PPB-IF
- DUT fixture Pogo Pin Blocks: D10-96PPB-DF
Pogo Pins (RTI L6-716)
- Current Rating: 5A
- Inductance: less than 1.0nH
- Insertion Loss: -1dB at 3.0GHz
